It’s been a delightfully busy year for me and one highlight that I wanted to share was a live presentation that myself and Nurse Practitioner Karen Gower did on 18 June this year for Paramedics and Paramedicine students called “Embracing Transitions:Navigating palliative and end-of-life care”. I presented on a palliative approach to care which included what is a palliative approach?; debunking palliative care myths and the role of an End of Life Doula; and Karen spoke about recognising the deteriorating person (active dying). The session was live streamed across Australia, New Zealand, PNG and Somoa. And it was a great opportunity to connect with passionate, professional and such valuable first responders (and potential future first responders). So a big thank you to the Australasian College of Paramedicine and the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine at the Brisbane Campus of Australian Catholic University. All part of a Compassionate Community.
